Project Overview
Fencepac partnered with Thiess to design, innovate and construct prison-standard security fencing for a new extension, and an existing refurbished section, of the Lotus Glen Correctional Facility. The project comprised multiple fencing applications including high chainwire, weldmesh and razor wire fencing, visual barriers, enclosures, electric and manual gates, and dog pound fencing.

- ▸Plan the three-year program around a fully operational Lotus Glen Correctional Facility — strict security regulations, frequent site-entry delays, and up to 50–60 concurrent trades — so prison operations were never interrupted.
- ▸Sequence the join between existing refurbished fencing and the new extension into a critical 48-hour shutdown window, holding prison security levels while the two systems were connected.
- ▸Keep design capacity on site: when variations arrived, develop new prison-standard fencing solutions quickly rather than waiting on a remote redesign cycle.
- ▸Deploy a 25-person Fencepac team across high chainwire, weldmesh and razor wire, visual barriers, enclosures, electric and manual gates, and dog pound fencing for both the new extension and the refurbished section.
- ▸Use in-house innovation to find cost-saving solutions as Thiess extended the initial $3,000,000 contract to $8,500,000 — a 283% scope increase driven by performance, not a change of contractor.
